It's an adventure. Our family of five is taking a year off from... the normal. Less work. More travel. Even (gasp!) homeschooling! We invite you to come along with us as we head West. Then on to Europe. Even grand times at home in between! Our goals: Rest. Connect. Experience. We hope to grow closer as a family and gain a deeper appreciation of all that God is, does, gives. Scaled back commitments. Scaled up adventure. Come along with us as the story unfolds!

Giverny

We were so looking forward to visiting Giverny, home of Monet's Gardens.  And we weren't disappointed.  We had a beautiful day, and the flowers were so abundant and colorful.  It was easy to see how Monet was inspired to paint.  And we learned that he planted a lot of the flowers, as well as painting them. We took tons of pictures, so prepare for lots of flower pictures ahead!

Don't forget to stop and smell the flowers!

Monet's house - it was very colorful inside.  And there were lots of Japanese style paintings by the same artist.  Monet was inspired by him.

Anna and Justin are kicking rocks to each other.

The kids are in deep conversation about the latest computer games they've been playing.  Notice how they're not looking around at the gorgeous flowers!
This is one of my favorite flowers.  I loved how the edges were frayed.

Then we came to the water lilies.  So beautiful!

We kept hearing strange bird like sounds, and eventually we figured out there were frogs (making the sounds) on some of the lily pads.

The boys are trying to spot more frogs.  It's like Where's Waldo!
Here's Anna watching this guy painting the view.  I thought that was so neat!

And I had to include this picture below of Anna.  She was wearing my coat and doing funny dances to help Kevin and me smile for the above picture!

We had some ice cream after our visit in the gardens.
